THE 80TH NATIONAL CONVENTION 2012

was held at The Thistle Hotel, Cheltenham
between Friday 4th May and Sunday 6th May

John Ware was promoted to Grand Governor and
Bryn Nathan was elected Grand Vice Governor.

Mary Bodley was installed as the National President
of Moose Ladies Circles.

A New Venue for Swanley Invicta


After meeting at the Five Wents Memorial Hall since 1971, the lodge
are moving across Swanley to a new venue in February 2012.

December 2011

Broken Circle - John Reid and Michael Young


The deaths have been announced of the Southend 29 Brothers
John Reid aged 90
and Michael Young aged 64.

John was enrolled into the Order in 1953 and was also
a Moose Legionnaire. He was awarded Life membership in 2003
upon reaching the age of 80 and he marked fifty years as
a member in 2003.

Michael was enrolled into Southend 29 in 1995. He loyally served
his lodge and legion until his retirement through ill-health in
2010.

Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this
time and please contact the Secretary for further details.

Area Convention News


The acting National Administrator Bryan White gave a well received talk on Membership
and spoke of the history of the Moose in Britain over the past 85 years.

The late Past Area President Brian Easey of Brentwood 10 was posthumously recognised for
his distinguished service to the Area with the Nip Brown Perpetual Memorial Trophy being
presented to his widow.

The Brian Easey Shield for Membership Growth was awarded to Grays 318 for the highest
net growth in membership.

The Sheila Mobb Rose Bowl was presented to Kath Lambert of Southend 29 for her long
and dedicated service to the Ladies Circles at Southend and the Eastern Area.

The Past Area President Michael Burgin announced his retirement from the Eastern Area Council
after 18 years with immediate effect. He had served as Treasurer (1996-1999), Secretary (1999-2004),
Grand Council Liaison Officer (1997-2007) and (2008-2011), Vice President (2009-2010) and President
(2010-2011).

Philip Burgin was re-elected unopposed as Area Councillor for 2012/2013, but a new candidate will
be sought for the Vice Presidency following the withdrawal of the existing candidate.

The Grand Council have announced the appointment of Past Grand Governor Michael Burgin
as Mooseheart Manager. He took up his duties on Monday 3rd October.

Brian Easey


The funeral of the lodge's long-serving Secretary Fellow Brian Easey was held
at St John the Baptist Church, Tilbury followed by the Committal at the Basildon
Crematorium on 3rd August.

The Area Secretary Bryn Nathan posthumously presented his widow Pat with his
Life Membership citation at the reception, which followed the funeral services.

Broken Circle - Brian Easey (1931-2011)


It is with great regret that we announced the death of the Brentwood 10
Secretary Brian Easey on 23rd July 2011.His funeral was held at St John
the Baptist Church, Tilbury and Basildon Crematorium on 3rd August.
The Area Secretary Bryn Nathan posthumously presented his widow Pat with his
Life Membership citation following the funeral services.

He was enrolled into the Order in April 1974 and served four lodges
Corringham Hope 302, Lewisham 257, Grays 318 and Brentwood 10
with distinction and was awarded a Fellowship in 1982. He assumed Life Membership
upon his 80th Birthday in June 2011.

He served as Governor of Corringham Hope in 1978/1979 and Grays in 1986/1987,
Secretary of Grays (1987/1988) and Brentwood (1991-2011), Treasurer of Grays (1985/1986)
and Brentwood (2010-2011), the Eastern Area as President (1984/1985), Membership Officer
(1978/1979), Councillor (1976-1978) and (2007-2009), Legion Liaison Officer (2008-2011),
Legion 26 Secretary and the Eastern District as Secretary (2004-2007)

Our thoughts are with his widow and family at this time.
